Your Ghost Gunner Shipment May Be Delayed

FedEx has made headlines (techdirt.com)by refusing to ship a CNC machine made by Defense Distributed & marketed as the Ghost Gunner.

Defense Distributed is a pending non-profit digital publisher and technology developer based in Austin Texas, organized to promote and expand the civil right to keep and bear arms. Their Ghost Runner CNC mill is advertised to…..

…manufactures any mil-spec AR-15 lower receiver to completion. With simple tools and point and slick software, the machine automatically finds and aligns to your 80% lower to get to work. No prior CNC knowledge or experience is required to manufacture from design files. Legally manufacture unserialized AR-15’s in the comfort and privacy of your home.

The pending non-profit says the entire project will be open source.  They claim to have developed a custom spindle that exceeds the quality, accuracy, and cutting capabilities of any sub-$400 spindle & their plug-and-play PCB connects between existing Arduino and gshield boards.

ARVE Error: Mode: lazyload is invalid or not supported. Note that you will need the Pro Addon activated for modes other than normal.

Legislation in California, SB 808, was shot down by Gov Jerry Brown.  The bill was an attempt to circumvent the 1968 Gun Control Act which allows firearm manufacturing for private use and ownership.  The Ghost Gunner will retail for less than $1500 and is capable of producing an AR-15 lower register at the same rate of machines that currently cost ten times as much.
